The Metropolitan Museum of Art announced Tuesday the host committee for the Met Gala. The committee, in conjunction with the event’s co-chairs, rapper ASAP Rocky, F1 athlete Lewis Hamilton, designer Pharrell Williams, actor Colman Domingo, US Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour and honorary chair basketball player LeBron James, will preside over the night’s festivities. The annual fundraiser for the museum’s Costume Institute will be held on May 5, 2025.

The host committee is made up of a suite of Black athletes, designers, writers, filmmakers and musicians. Members include singer André 3000, novelist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, gymnast Simone Biles, rapper Doechii, actor Ayo Edebiri, filmmaker Spike Lee, designers Grace Wales Bonner and Olivier Rousteing among others.

Also unveiled Tuesday was the dress code for the Met Gala, “Tailored for You.” The theme is a nod to the exhibition’s focus on menswear, titled ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.’ The exhibition will centre the figure of the Black dandy, a 19th century term used to define Black men with great interest in aesthetics, and will be divided into 12 sections, each representing a characteristic that defines dandyism: Ownership, Presence, Distinction, Disguise, Freedom, Champion, Respectability, Jook, Heritage, Beauty, Cool, and Cosmopolitanism.

“Superfine: Tailoring Black Style is our department’s first exhibition devoted to menswear in more than 20 years,” said Andrew Bolton, Curator in Charge at the Costume Institute, in a statement. “The show also reflects our ongoing commitment to diversifying our exhibitions in a way that is authentic to The Costume Institute.”

The exhibition and event’s sponsors include Louis Vuitton, Instagram, the Hobson/Lucas Family Foundation, Africa Fashion International and the Perry foundation. Publisher Condé Nast will provide additional support.

The exhibition will be on view at the Metropolitan Museum of Art from May 10 until Oct. 26.
