Job Details
At Self-Portrait, we are looking for a motivated and passionate Design Assistant to join our growing Design team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an expanding team, supporting the development of design-led , detail-driven collections.
As Design Assistant, you’ll work directly with the wider Design team and Product Developers, assisting across all stages of the design process. The ideal candidate will be a confident user of Photoshop, with a strong interest in fabric, silhouette and finish. You’ll bring an enthusiastic, proactive approach to research and day-to-day design work, and be excited to contribute to a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Support the Design team across all stages of the design process, from initial concept research through to collection completion

Maintain design boards, lineups, and internal documents across all collections and capsules

Prepare and maintain detailed CAD mock-ups, responding efficiently to fit feedback and ensuring accuracy through all stages

Carry out trend research, concept development, and comp shops in line with seasonal direction

Collaborate with Product Development to help create and update tech packs

Contribute to fittings, assisting with samples and feedback tracking where needed

Support with fabric research and development, particularly around trims, finishes, and embellishments

Ensure final styles are commercially and technically viable, working closely with the wider Self-Portrait team
Requirements:
-
BA or equivalent qualification in Fashion Design or a related subject

Entry-level to 1 years’ experience / Internships in a contemporary, premium, or luxury womenswear design role

Strong understanding of the Self-Portrait aesthetic and visual identity

Confident user of Adobe Creative Suite – particularly Photoshop, InDesign

Strong research and design sensibility; keen eye for detail and silhouette
-
Positive, can-do attitude and the ability to work well both independently and collaboratively
-
A quick learner with strong time management and ability to work across multiple tasks

Knowledge of fabrics, techniques, and garment construction is an advantage

Must be eligible to work in the UK
